Swallows and Amazons

By Arthur Ransome

John, Susan, Titty and Roger Walker are overjoyed when their father gives them permission to camp on the little island in the lake at Beckfoot. Their home for the summer holidays. Bursting with anticipation, the four children set off in their little sailboat, the Swallow, for the adventure of a lifetime. On their summer adventure, the Swallows meet the Amazon Pirates, Nancy, and Peggy. Along with their crabby, mysterious uncle, Jim, who is also known as Captain Flint. Who will become commodore of the two little vessels and their crews? Can they figure out what is so odd about Nancy and Peggy’s uncle?

I love the Swallows and Amazons books. The stories are very light-hearted and imaginative. Full of things to make you smile and excitement to keep you turning the pages.
